چکیده

Biocatalysis has become an important aspect of modern organic synthesis, both in academia and across the chemical pharmaceutical industries. Its success been largely due to a rapid expansion range reactions accessible, made possible by advanced tools for enzyme discovery coupled with high-throughput laboratory evolution techniques biocatalyst optimization. A wide tailor-made enzymes high efficiencies selectivities can now be produced quickly on gram kilogram scale, dedicated databases search aimed at making these biocatalysts accessible broader scientific community. This Primer discusses current state-of-the-art methodology field, including route design, discovery, protein engineering implementation biocatalysis industry. We highlight recent advances, such as de novo design directed evolution, discuss parameters that make good reproducible biocatalytic process The general concepts will illustrated examples applications industry, development multistep cascades.
